Keep in School Shape

Academic skills, like physical abilities, remain accessible through continued use. Without regular engagement, learning momentum can fade during academic breaks or other times when instruction is interrupted. The Keep in School Shape (KiSS) Program provides a simple, low-barrier way for students to maintain readiness through brief daily learning activities delivered during instructional gaps.

In the KiSS Program, students receive one short review activity each day, allowing them to maintain fluency and confidence in foundational skills during academic breaks. The KiSS Program represents one university mathematics implementation of the AppLe framework (Apply + Learn) — a continuity-oriented design model to sustain student readiness for future learning.

The KiSS Program is part of a research initiative funded by the National Science Foundation that explores how small, consistent learning encounters can help students maintain readiness between courses.
